The Will of John Cox - 16 January 1691/92

In the name of God Amen the Sixteenth day of January in the Third Yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord and Lady William and Mary by the Grace of God of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland King and Queene Defender of the ffaith etc. Anno Dm 1691 I John Cox of East Lulworth in the County of Dorset Seaman being in good health of body And of sound and perfect Mind and Memory Prayse be therefore given to Almighty God Doe make and ordaine this my present last will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to say ffirst and principally I Commend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God hopeing through the merritts Death and Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and ffree pardon and forgivenesse of all my Sinns and to Inheritt Everlasting Life and my body I committ to the Earth to be Decently buryed at the discretion of my Executrixes hereafter named And as touching the disposition of such Temporall Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and Dispose thereof as followeth ffirst I will that my Debts and funerall Charges shalbee paid and Discharged I doe give and bequeath Unto my loving Mother Mary Smedmore the now Wife of John Smedmore the Summe of ffifty Shillings of lawfull English money I doe give and bequeath unto my Unckle Lewis Cox of West Lulworth the summe of ffive pounds of like lawfull English money I doe give and bequeath Unto my Kinsman Thomas Cox sonne of my Unckle Lewis Cox the like summe of ffive pounds of like lawfull English money I doe give and bequeath unto my Sister Elizabeth Smedmore ffifty shillings of like lawfull English money All the rest and residue of my Personall Estate Goods and Chattells whatsoever not before herein given and bequeathed I doe give and bequeath Unto my loving Sisters Mary Cox and Anne whom I doe make Joynt full and Sole Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament and I doe hereby revoke Disannul and make voyde all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I the said John Cox to this my last will and Testament being conteyned in one Sheete of Paper have Sett my hand and Seale the Day and Yeare above written Signed John Cox
